Below we have listed a few of the most common problems the Ford
Focus
suffers from.

Droan from front/rear when driving.
A common problem and that is easily identified and cured
Clicking noise from behind the dash.
An extremely annoying problem and although everything will work OK it is
well worth the 20 minutes it takes to fix it.
High idle and humming noise
Another extremely difficult concern to diagnose but if you have the
symptoms then we have the cure.
Damp musty smell from air conditioning.
We have to solution to this concern without the need to replace any parts.
Howling noise on cold start up
A tricky problem to diagnose but with a little help it can be easily
cured.
Number plate lamps inop.
Make sure you are in possession of all the fact before you start this
repair.
Condensation in the headlamps
There are two ways round this, the cheap way and the definitely not so
cheap way.
Poor start after the fuel filter is changed.
A simple job that can turn in to an extremely long and frustrating job,
make sure you know the tricks of the trade!
Knocking from front over bumps
A few potential causes, we can help you isolate the cause and then fix it.
Oil leak from gearbox.
Don't panic just yet it may have a very simple cure.
Lack of Power and Speedo drops to zero
( a concern highlighted by Watchdog)
Be in possession of all the facts, it may be well worth your while!
ST170
The ST170 has been plagued with a few concerns
but don't worry now know how to fix most of them.
Flickering dash and headlamps
Another fault that is more annoying that an actual problem.
Lack of clutch action or
brake fluid loss
Should
a Focus suffer with a sudden loss of clutch action and / or a loss of brake
fluid it is possible then we may have the answer and the cure may be a lot
cheaper than you think.
Focus wipers not parking
An easy fix if you know where to start
Droaning noise from rear when driving
Two possible causes both of which are
easily identified and cured
Tailgate release inop
We are just starting to get through an
alarming amount of Focus tailgate releases that are inop
Focus ST 170 Rattle from
engine/dash area
The 170 has suffered with a couple
of things, the rattling from behind the dash could be a couple of things.
Focus ST 170 exhaust rattles
The exhaust has two main concerns.
Focus Rear washer inop
There are a couple of places
the pipe can come adrift on the rear washer and one place where it can
split.
Water in passengers front
footwell
A quick and cheap repair if you
know what to do.
Focus diesel with the charging
light on or flickering
We are starting to get quite a
few with this symptom.
Zetec engined Focus over heating
We've started getting a lot of Fiestas
with the zetec engine, showing signs of over heating
Knocking/Creaking/Rubbing noise from front
suspension
If you have a noise from the front
suspension that defies all logic then we may have the answer.
1.6 Focus poor start either from cold or
after being left for any period of time, ok on second attempt
This is becoming quite common now, the car
start and either cuts out immediately or misfires then runs ok, but is perfectly
ok on the second attempt to start it.
Squealing noise from the Water Pump

Before paying out for a water pump we may
have a cheap cure
Focus Dash instruments inop
If the dash gauges are inop or
intermittently inop then we know the probable cause
