When ordering parts or verifying if your vehicle is built within a specific period it is vital to know the build date of the vehicle. The build date is incorporated into the vehicles chassis number or Vehicle Identification Number (VIN). The chassis number has 17 digits and comprises letters and numbers always ending with 5 numbers i.e. WF0FXXGBBAAD54321. The two digit preceding the last 5 numbers represents the build date AD (shown here in red for clarity).

Using the chart below move down the YEAR column to A=1980 and then across the row to the D which is in the JULY column. Therefore the build date of AD is JULY 1980.

Please note the from 2001 the first digit is a number and this format does not apply to Probes.
