All Original Equipment alarms on Fords have a built in self test. This test checks the operation of all the switches and the horn. It is a very simple operation to carry out.

Each of the front door barrels and the boot barrel has a switch that automatically activates and deactivates the alarm when locking and unlocking the car; this switch is wrapped around or very close to the door barrel.

Every door including the boot/tailgate has a micro switch attached to the catch that detects when the door / boot is opened.

This page describes how to carry out an alarm self test and what the results mean.

Alternatively carry out the test and tell us the results and we'll tell you the likely cause.
